Here’s the medical facts for Annika:

Annika has a tumor almost the size of her Kidney, above the left Kidney. It is unknown what type of tumor it is, as of now. It has metastasized throughout her body via her bones – her spinal column, her ribs, her legs and arms, some ribs and her skull. It is also there in her lungs as many small nodules. Recent scans show something on or near her liver, and some swelling in her brain which is limiting the circulation and drainage of Cerebro-spinal fluid. This causes an increase of pressure in the head, inducing massive headaches, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.

She is very weak, and tires easily. We try to get her to drink a lot, and eat a lot, but her appetite is nil. She tries her best to co-operate, it’s just really hard for her.

She is also in a lot of pain, all the time. Unless she takes a pain pill, she is moaning all the time. Also, the pain medication commonly available here in US, Advil etc., have no lasting effect. She has to take something called “Meftal-Forte”, which isn’t available here. Luckily we brought a good supply from India.
