Dearest Friends and Family,
I have very sad news. This morning, Holy Mother Amma’s Father, Sugunanandan Acchan passed on quite suddenly with heart failure. The ashram as a whole is in a sense of shock and loss. Acchan was here long before the Ashram. Acchan gave the land that started the Ashram, and the Daughter.
Link met me on my way home from Kollam, and told me. I don’t know what to say. He was an institution itself, within the institution. Amma’s family are Heart People. A Heart that was the pillar of this ashram, is gone.
It feels very strange now.
I feel very sad, as I so wanted him to see the book - Gandhi’s Earth Ethics with teachings from Holy Mother Amma: an Introduction. I had written to Amma praying for both parents to see the book come out. It was a dream in my heart to see his face then. I am not sure our beloved Damayanti Amma will necessarily be aware of what I am showing her when it does. It was to that great Tejas Shakti that shone out of Acchan, that the book would have been meaningful.
There are a few earlier blogs and photos of Acchan and Amma, I think in 2008 and 09. I will have to get up the photos from the house-warming….
I heard that Amma is coming home tonight, from Kolkata…
I deleted the Penance of Speech article, as it should be two articles. When the mind can work again, I will put it up and let you know.
Just a week ago, Link and I sat at his feet, trying to press the water that had collected in them around as he wished…telling him our little bits of news…he made a point of blessing our heads when we left….O, My Dear Acchan…Of course, you had to leave, but Why did you leave us?
